About this Costume
Construction Details:
~20 Hours

The cheongsam is made from stretchy material (Rayon?). The gold patterning is some sort of polysuede remnant I found. I used Heat-bond for the first time! Attaching the patterns to the main part worked really well! I also ended up stuffing the sleeves when I wore them since they weren't puffy enough on their own. The collar honestly gave me the most problems, but eventually I ended up using a hook and eye to attach it around my neck.

The white belt is essentially a loop of stretchy white fabric fitted to my waist.

Bun covers are some sort of thicker cotton I had. I traced a bowl to get the right size, lined the circles with gold bias tape and sewed elastic in a smaller ring in the center. The silk ribbons are sewn on the outside, and there's stuffing inside to ensure they look spherical.

Hand spikes are made of craft foam covered with several layers of Modge Podge, spray paint, and acrylic paint. They slip on and off fairly easily and are very light and comfortable.

I bought super opaque brown tights in the hopes nothing would show through...my mom told me to wear something over just in case. Which ended up being a good idea since wind and running and...yes (thanks, Mom!).

Boots were bought from Amazon.
Personal Thoughts:
I made this costume for Halloween because I figured it'd be "easier" than what I had initially planned. Was it really? I honestly don't know XD

I really love the hairbuns I made! Might wear them for Chinese New Year or something =)
