About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
All of the fabric for this costume is from Joann's Casa collection. I used Casa satin for the skirt, hip wrap, kimono top, tank under the kimono, and all of the ivory trim. I used Casa crepe for the sleeves on the kimono top and the pink waist padding. The yellow scarf is Casa chiffon. All of the details on the tops and the hip wrap were painted by hand by my Tasuki. The crown is made from craft foam and large red rhinestones. The phoenix hair ornament is made out of 16 gauge wire and aluminum foil covered in fimo. The tail feather and wig details were carved into it by hand before it was cooked and painted. The flower and dangling beads were attached with glue and the hair ornament was secured with a hair comb.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Does it count as crossplay if I'm cosplaying a boy disguised as a girl?
Wig Details
- Wig Brand
- Epic Cosplay
- Wig Name
- 36'' Straight
- Original Color:
- Lux Purple
- Styling Time
- 2 hours
- Wig Quality Rating
- 5 / 5.00
- Styling Notes
- The base wig was braided and the bangs were trimmed and styled. The top "bun" was made up of a bunch of strips of 16 gauge wire sandwiched between 2 pieces of craft foam (that were painted the same purple as the wig) and then covered in fiber from a 30" weft in the same color.
- Wig Review
- The base wig for this costume (36" long straight) is by far the thickest long wig that I have ever seen or worked with; it is amazing! The fiber is really soft and doesn't seem to tangle as much as other long wigs do. The color is really rich and beautiful too. The wig cap also fits perfectly, and I didn't need nearly as many pins to secure it as I might have with other wigs.
