Akasha from Queen of the Damned is probably one of my favorite vampires of all time. I watched the movie one night and decided to take on the task of making the costume. I haven’t had a lot of experience with cosplay, so I knew that it was going to be a challenge. And trust me when I say it was a challenge! The bead work that went into the necklace, let alone the crown was insane. Everything has to be wired right and positioned without flaw. I looked up tutorials online to get a feel to what I was undertaking. The skirt was probably the easiest portion of the whole thing. The breast plates are made from craft foam and model magic. The trapezoids on the skirt were made from craft foam, and they were all bejeweled by hand, piece by piece. If my friends weren’t there to keep my sane, I probably would have lost my mind! I think it came out well. I’ll most likely fix it up a bit the next time I wear it, but I’m so proud of the costume! Felt like I proved something to myself ^_^
