About this Costume
Construction Details:
Kijin. This outfit is one of my crowning glories. I did a bunch of research to get him semi-correct, his outfit is influenced from the Chinese Hanfu from the Han Dynasty. I went along with Japanese and Chinese motifs to figure out the color scheme and whatnot since the only reference images are about 3" tall and b&w. The outfit is 85% silk, and 90% of that silk is hand dyed using shibori dyeing and resist techniques. I designed, manipulated and silk-screened all the motifs onto the outfit, as well as the crafting of the hat and shoes (which are both mainly silk as well) I also drafted all the patterns.
