Construction Details:

I used a princess seam blouse pattern from one of the Otome no Sewing books for Iris's blouse. I modified the sleeves and collar and added box pleated trim to the placket.

The bloomers pattern is also from Otome no Sewing, but modified to add more fullness. Both the bloomers and blouse are cotton broadcloth.

I drafted the skirt pattern myself. Basically I used 1/12 of the finished waist measurement and 1/12 of the desired hem circumference to draft one section of the skirt (since there are twelve pleats total), and then multiplied that by three to get one box pleat. The skirt has a built in tulle petticoat sewed onto the lining. I used cable ties for the boning. The trim is stuffed with batting. Due to the placement of the pleats and belt loops, the back zipper had to be installed off-center. The main skirt fabric is cotton oxford. The trim is some mystery fabric I found, it has a slight nap.

The gloves were purchased and modified.

The belt buckle and gold decorations are all made with Cosboard brand EVA foam and painted with acrylic paint.

I used two cosmetic jar lids to make the goggle lenses. I taped off the quatrefoil shapes before painting and added blue plastic inside the lids (cut out from a plastic file folder).

The lower part of the boot covers are permanently attached to the base boots, and the ankle cuffs are separate pieces that attach with velcro.

The backpack is made with heavy cotton oxford and faux suede. I drafted the pattern myself. I made the Iris and Holmes mascot charms out of felt and embroidered the face details.

Styling Notes

I modified the base wig into a ponytail style and stubbed it. The bow and drill curls are made with the packing tape and wire method, and the wires are attached to a styrofoam dome which is sewed to the wig, on top of the stub. The hearts at the end of the curls are craft foam. The wefts were harvested from a Basic Long wig.
