About this Costume

I drafted my own pattern for the top and used an online tutorial for hakama pants and modified them to me tattsuke hakama. The vertical lines on the top are pinched seams. I made the bias tape from plain purple fabric. I used the same fabric to make the collar and used 1/8" masking tape and black fabric spray paint to make the pattern. I am especially proud of how the scalloped collar turned out (it was just a lot of trial and error until it looked right).
nI patterned the gloves. Where the eyelets are placed was reinforced with both interfacing and a line of stitching on both sides of the eyelet. I added all the eyelets myself. My cosplay teammate made the fabric cording. I am especially proud of how the bias tape around the top of the gloves turned out.
nI used a pair of flip-flops as a base for the boots. I used the Saran wrap and duct tape method to create a pattern. I added a center back zipper to make them easy to get in and out of.
nI made the leather belt from a 3" strip of leather I bought. I salvaged the 3" buckle from an old, thrift store belt. I cut, beveled, stained, sealed, and riveted it myself. The bandolier was made out of some sort of heavy natural fiber fabric. I dyed it a TINY bit darker and then measured and sewed the loops. It is held closed with Velcro.
nI made the headband with more fabric cording that I made myself. The rings are white plastic and covered in black ribbon. I made the tassels with nylon thread. The fabric cording is then glued to a plastic headband (which kept falling off, so I need to modify it).
nPurple contact lenses were ordered from HoneyColor. - Personal Thoughts:
- Loved the design and thought it would be a good challenge for competition. I'm very pleased with how much work I put into this!
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- All I did was cut the excess lace off the front. No products used. It's basically straight out of the packaging. I did, however, have to shave my real hair in the front so it wouldn't show through.
- Wig Review
- Great wig; highly recommend!
