About this Costume
Construction Details:
It took 2 months to make this costume at a break-neck pace. All the jewels, small items, and lace had to be purchased/constructed before I could work on the main body of the costume.

The hat is made from buckram and wire, covered with velvet, fleece, snowflakes, ribbon, lace, gems, and icicles. The veil is finished with gold trim and sewn to the inside.

The bodice and skirt were constructed using a Tudor dress pattern. The bodice is blue velvet and cream satin lined in black cotton, with a jean interlining, boning, and flannel padding. The front is adorned with painted lace, hand-sewn pearls, molded trim, rhinestones, sequins, and a nail polish backed gem. The fur sleeve rounds and puff sleeves are hand-sewn to the armscyes. The sleeves are also lined in cotton and trimmed with gold lace, pearls, and rhinestones.

The skirt weighs around 15 pounds and sits on a hoop skirt for support. The center panel is quilted satin (backed with felt for stiffness), and features 38 yards of bead strings and over 800 hand-sewn drop beads and seed beads. The blue velvet overskirt has 3 large lace panels atop cream satin, decorated with gold Christmas sprigs, rhinestones, snowflakes, and frilly trim. There are also two strips of gold-edged satin ribbon along the skirt sides set with purple gem clusters and outlined with rhinestones. The skirt bottom is trimmed with hand spotted fur (as is the hand warmer).

This is such an investment of time and skill for me. I really wanted a challenging costume and, boy, did I get one! I'm so proud of this outfit <3
