Top & Pants:
rnThe top and pants are made of a high quality yellow jersey knit I found on sale at a local fabric store. I paid about $15 for the lot of it and it was enough for me to get a pair of pants and 2 tops (one blood splattered, one clean.)
rnFor the top I drafted my own pattern. I studied as many images of I could find on Beatrix and watched the House of Blue leaves showdown in slow motion to get seam accuracy with this one. The black stripes are made of black suiting and they are inset rather than appliquéd on.
rnThe top has an invisible zipper up the front. This was one thing that puzzled me for years. She clearly had an invisible zipper in the front…but invisible zippers don’t separate. Well, it turns out her top DOES NOT separate in the front. Analyzing the hem line in the front, her top is a solid piece in the front. So I constructed my top the same way.
rnThe pants are done the same way as the top. The stripes are inset. The waist has elastic in it as well. The pants are fitted in the upper part and hang more loosely below the knee, just like the movie version.

rnShoes:
rnThe shoes I bought are Asics Onitsuka Tiger shoes. I bought the yellow ones with the red and blue stripes. I painted the stripes black and switched out the lacing with yellow laces. The shoes are very comfy and the closest thing I could find to the official shoes she wears…which are Asics Onitsuka Tiger Tai Chi edition shoes.

rnBlood Splatter:
rnOnly one of the tops received the blood splatter. I used a high grade theatrical blood bought from a local theatrical store. I bought the darker red for a more realistic appearance. I used an old glasses cleaner squirt bottle and sprayed the fake blood generously around the top and sporadically around the arms. I based the blood splatter after she slices Sophie’s arm off and before the GoGo fight.

rnSword:
rnFor con’s I use a plastic toy Samurai sword. For private shoots I own a replica Hattori Hanzo sword that is a real sword, just not sharpened. It creates a wonderful realistic look for the photos.
rn - Personal Thoughts:
- It’s no secret this is one of my favorite movies. When I first saw the Kill Bill films I absolutely LOVED the homage to older kung fu style films from the 60’s and 70’s. I instantly fell in love with Uma Thurman’s character as she redefined the whole “Girl Power” thing….only because her vengeance ran so deep she was able to slaughter god only knows how many people to get to Bill!
rnThe outfit that stood out to me was obviously the yellow tracksuit that pays tribute to Bruce Lee from Game of Death. Another major reason for my love of this film is that it’s Quentin Tarantino. He creates original films with excellent dialogue and well developed characters. This movie stands out as one of my favorites in the Tarantino-verse (as well as From Dusk Till Dawn!)
rnThe overall construction for this outfit was fairly easy.
