About this Costume
Construction Details:
The hat was a fun project and the construction notes for THAT would probably deserve its own page. Succinctly, it's a hat. A hat with about two or three pounds of beading on it. It is NOT light to wear.

The jacket, undervest, and pants are all made of sanded twill. I love working with twill; it's a sturdy fabric with a lovely drape and an excellent crisp feel. The lining of the jacket was made with a white bridal satin that I dyed blue. Yes, I could've just bought blue satin, but I wanted to try my hand at dyeing as well.

The waist sash is a brocade that I used the wrong side of. Most brocades have metallic gold sheens that I feel photograph poorly and look cheap; so I cheated. The waist sash was also tinted to be a bit darker since the original brocade was a bit too yellow. It also served the dual purpose of dyeing the appliques properly, haha. In version one of this sash, it was attached together with elastic and pulled over my head. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA. I've since torn out the elastic and added hook and eyes to put it on. A much better solution.

The boots...are boots. What would you like me to say about them?
Personal Thoughts:
This is probably one of those costumes that I will never by truly satisfied with. I think, in total, I remade the coat itself four times before I finished the current version (which I'm happy with, for the most part!) I love this costume a lot; it sort of marked a turning point for me, as a costumer, with gaining some confidence in my skills. And ironically, it was among the first costumes I made for myself, as the vast majority of my previous stints in cosplay had been costumes for other people. So that will also make this a special costume for me.

Wig Review
I love this wig. I LOVE this wig. It's a beautiful color mix that looks incredibly natural. I would not, however, use this for a normal Austria costume, as the styling is completely off for it . But beneath a hat I did not plan to remove, it worked perfectly and the color was stunning.
