Getting the proportions right between the black and white clothing layers by the shoulders was something I really tried to get right as many I have seen before had the grey outer collar under the black collar. Also added a hook and eye on each shoulder to make sure the outer layer stayed in the right position on the black layer as I moved around.
I opted to make the bow in the back removable using a clip to minimize the bunching as opposed to two button holes and weaving it through.

-Shield Prop
The overall design wasn't as hard as I expected due to finding scaled sketches of the shield. With those as a template, it was a matter of staring at the design to figure out which line went where and which layer was which. The channels for the EL Wire gave some difficulty when trying to determine how to hide the bends from view since it had to be a continuous circuit. Also had to come up with a way for the two gems/'sand' storage chambers to hold in place but still be able to rotate as their position changes depending on the shield 'mode'. In the end the acrylic base came in handy to add a lot of support/stability to the shield. Also glad that the many, many layers of UltraSeal used to seal and smooth the foam dried nice and clear so the EL Wire could shine through.
Personal Thoughts:
Overall a fun cosplay to make. Not too many layers to have to worry about heating issues.
