This costume didn't turn out like I hoped, but it wasn't a disaster :) The costume is made out of a white silk charmeuse. I had no idea that it was about as difficult to sew as chiffon. I used an elastic waistband pants pattern because I wanted a pair of pants that were not fitted. I took a woman's long tunic pattern and altered the length and sides to give it the draping effect on the front and the back. I wanted both pieces to have no fasteners, especially zippers, because they seemed very inappropriate for the ethereal aesthetic of this costume. I made the gold bias tape out of silk dupioni. I styled the wig myself. I made this costume the last two days before Otakon :(. I started the wings about a week early. Everything but the bolts are made out of plexiglass. I patterned them out and traced them, then my dad help me cut them out. It was very difficult because of the curves, so the gold parts were the hardest. Then I painted everything and glued them together. The bolts are painted magnets that are glued. I painted copper wires to support it but it didn't work out how I had planned. In the end I had to velcro them to my costume at the con. I know this is super ghetto but I refused to not have the wings since I worked so hard on them. I think that the fabric was a good choice, but it was so thin that I realized I had to wear a leotard underneath or you could see my body LOL It is up in the air whether I'll wear this again or not @_@
