Construction Details:

This is part of a pair costume with placidmage, who was second uniform Crown Clown Allen. Our coats are made of upholstery stretch vinyl (available on distinctivefabric.com), which was perfect in so many ways. My only complaints with this fabric are that it doesn't breathe at all and that it's difficult to topstitch on a machine because of friction with the presser foot. (I ended up solving this problem by coating the underside of my presser foot with Scotch tape.) Every stripe on this coat is hand-stitched on because the striping didn't look right top-stitched. I put at least a hundred hours into the stripes alone. The oversize zippers on my gloves and jacket front are from orgxiii.org. Mugen was originally a cheap wooden sword that I repainted with enamel. I'd still like to redo the blade at some point but am happy enough with it for now.

Personal Thoughts:

This is what I was wearing during the Otakon 2010 fire alarm fiasco, and since that day, I have never again wanted to set foot outside in this costume.

Styling Notes

The base of the wig is an Epic Cosplay 26" straight in black. It is not stubbed but is pinned very carefully to approximate a ponytail. The ponytail itself is a clip-on from eBay.
