Construction Details:

I based this costume largely around McCalls pattern 6322 with slight alterations. The sleeves and leg covers were all freehanded. For the symbol I made my own iron-on patches with wonder-under. For the first version I made the ears and horn out of craft foam which I hot glued some hairpins into to stick them into the wig. The tail is a Sepia wig which was given to me by Stardust462. For Dragon*Con I updated the ears and horn: the ears were a better-made pair still out of craft foam and hair pins; the horn is a seashell I painted and again hairpins. This time I learned to anchor the ears and horn to the wig with more hairpins, which worked very well.

Personal Thoughts:

I made this costume for Shiva's "Sundae Best" Ponies group. All costumes in the group are based on the "Sundae Best" toy series and do not have any corresponding cartoon character to my knowledge. I made it in about 15 hours over the course of three days and am pretty proud of it. I updated it for Dragon*Con, but there's still more changes I'd like to make: fix the leg covers, and add trim to the arm and leg covers. I had a BLAST running around with the other ponies at Dragon*Con and I even bought the set on eBay so we have all the figurines to pose with! I can't wait to reprise it in the future when we have the rest of the 6 Sundae Best Ponies!

Styling Notes

I bought this wig to match the color of the tail wig I got from Stardust 462.
