Construction Details:

Maomi: Top: The top was made from a thick pleather material. There isn't really a good pattern for this top, so I made this top from scratch. I started by making a generic looking jacket, then I added on the overlay piece on the left side of the jacket. The top was fitted and sewn for D2. The back of Kaito's jacket has three separate flaps, I ended up finishing the jacket, then cutting the jacket into three sections and resewing it back together. It inside of the jacket is lined with a plastic gray fabric. Kaito's picture shows that the inside of the jacket is lined with a gray material. The collar was also created just for this cosplay. It is a bit bigger than most collars and stiffer. The collar is lined with heavyweight interfacing. The shoulder piece on the right shoulder was made from a strip on leather that I cut to the right shape then sewn and eyelets were attached. It was then studded by D2. The scarf was handmade as well. Bottom: The pants were the most difficult part of this project! I have no pants making skill. So I ended up just winging it. Unfortunately, D2 had to stand there while I pinned the pants to him. There are 3 buttons in the front of the pants as well as two snaps. There is a working fly in this outfit, it was requested by D2. The zipper actually unzips. I ended up finishing the pants and then cutting the leg off and then added the zipper to the pants. The pants has functional belt loops, fly, and zipper. Armband: Again another hand sewn project, just pin and then sewn. Tattoo: The tattoo was actually made in paint to replicate Kaito's wrist tattoo. It was printed at home so it's an original design. D2: Accessories: Microphone: It was made from three pieces of pvc. Then, I bought a wind sock for a microphone. There's a thin piece of Styrofoam spray painted around the microphone for a fuller look. Earring/Lip ring: There were a lot of random pieces attached to the lip/earring set. I cut the extra off, soldered the piece together after cutting out some links. Necklace: The necklace was made from a necklace chain from Michael's and a long brown leather strap, and the cross and the feather are attached with necklace rings and then soldered onto the brow leather strap. Chocker: A piece of black leather belt was cut into the length of D2's neck and studs were attached using rivet tools. Belts: The red belt is attached to the pants with Velcro and the thin black belt's dog tag was attached using a thin red metal wire and the wire is soldered together around the loop on the belt. Styling Notes

Maomi: The wig came in a completely different style than what Kaito's wig looked like. It was flipped out and looked more like Yuna's wig from FFX-2. The wig was styled by cutting off a lot of the excess flipped hair. Then, the wig was flat ironed at a low temperature to get the hair to be straight. I had to curl the two sides of the wig so they would curl inward. After that, the wig was cut and layered. Kaito's hair has a lot of lose long streaks in it. So I created that look using Got2b glued hair spray. I held individual pieces of hair and created the look. I had to use some pins to hold the hair in place while they dried.
