Construction Details:

Hugo is a costume I am rather proud of. I made the pants using the same pattern from my Country of Clow Sakura costume. I took black sandals and added the brown strips to them. I made a basic black shirt for his bottom layer, then I took some duck cloth for the base of the top layer and used iron on and appliqued the patterning on top, it took quite a while to get the geometric shapes correct. I used a similar technique for the leg and wrist braces. I used model magic to shape out the bracelets and the anklets, though I put magnets in the anklets so I could easily get them on and off. I hand beaded the necklace and colored the feathers by hand. Hugo has particpated in Cosplay Chess at Anime Banzai 2009 and won Audience Favorite. Hugo also participated in a skit and Anime Banzai 2009 called Yuko of Oz and the skit won Masters Performance. Hugo participated in a walk-on at AnimeLand Wasabi 2010 and won 1st Place Journeyman Craftmanship.

Styling Notes

To add in the black tips onto Hugo's wig, I took some sharpie and colored the tips after I cut the wig, then, I took a damp cloth and took out the extra color, I kept doing this until I got good color in all the places I wanted and I was not bleeding on the parts I wanted to keep blond.
