About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
For C.C., I used baby silk and chiffon for the majority of the bodice and skirt. I put layers of lace in the bodice and sleeves to break up the monotony of the black a little bit, and the bodice is fully lined and boned in the waist area. I drafted/measured the circle skirt pattern myself, and it took up nearly 5 yards of silk, and the ruffle was hand-gathered. As for the under-things, I layered together a hoopskirt and a square dance petticoat.
Fixed some things about this costume, notably the laces on the front of the bodice - I ripped out all of the ribbon that was there before and installed some lacing loops so that it would actually lace up, like a normal corset/waist cincher would. Also, did away with the square dance petticoat over the hoopskirt, since it made the shape of the skirt really ... angular, and I wasn't diggin' it. :/
For Lelouch, I used a lighter weight suiting fabric. The collar and front facings were drafted by myself, and the red designs were painted on with a round brush (Lumiere metallic paint, FTW!). The vest is satin, lined in satin lining, and the puffy white shirt is cotton broadcloth, as is the neck ruffle. - Personal Thoughts:
- I always think of pirates now whenever I look at Lelouch's costume. :3
