About this Costume
Construction Details:
made the armor/jewelry/etc with a combination of Model Magic (air-drying clay), half a bottle of modge podge and gesso paint. The red gems are christmas ornaments cut in half. Awesome.

The costume itself is a pants pattern and an altered a-line dress pattern. I used suiting for the pink because it's easy to sew but I had to make allowances because it didn't stretch as much as spandex. When I remade the costume I dropped the superhero underpants because I could NOT figure out a way for them not to look super dorkfest. No one's noticed.

The wig came from Cyperous.com--my first! and was fabulous. No styling needed at all, the bangs flip up all on their own. :3
Personal Thoughts:
I made this costume for the first time in 2008. By 2010 I'd lost some weight and re-made everything but the cloak and armor. That worked pretty well, because the first time around I was very, very new at sewing. Like, the white cuffs and edged were glued on--that's how bad I was. In 2011 getting everything to lay right was still pretty annoying, but I managed. I still need better pictures with this though, I tried for Sakuracon 2011 and then came down with a terrible cold instead. >_>

I finally brought the costume out again for Akicon 2012 on the promise of a photoshoot with my friend the lovely photographer Dea Star. I'm really glad I did, I met a lot of fun people while being Lina. :D I'll probably wear her again Sakuracon 2013, I got tempted with the promise of a Slayers group~ and possibly a Gourry in a dress.

Styling Notes
just a bit of a bang trim! ....and a bit of maintenance with a hair straightener as the years have gone on, the armor/cloak makes the back get frizzy.
Wig Review
My first Cyperous wig, still going strong after all these years. Love it.
