Construction Details:

Dubbed "The Giant Can Opener O'Doom" this was a commission that was a "great learning experience". That means that everything that could go wrong did. ^_^; My first scheme for construction crashed and burned, as did the second. When I retreated back into assemblage technique, I finally got somewhere. The blade and butt are plastic; the hilt is wood and plastic and the staff is wood. I had to get it into a shipping box so the staff breaks into two pieces and the blade and butt are also removeable.

Personal Thoughts:

Since the person I made it for is my height, just shy of two meters, the actual weapon itself came out very tall. That son of a biscuit was nine feet from tip to tip! There is no way to get that across in a photo of the Glaive by itself. Even putting a meter stick next to it for scale doesn't help. It just looks spindly. But when there's a human bean in the frame, it's true size becomes clear. I did 'Shop the image a bit (I figured no one wanted to look at all the trash on the floor. ;) but the scale of the Glaive is unaltered.
