About this Costume
Construction Details:
The top was inspired from a crop top with sleeves similar to Disney's Princess Jasmine, and the "wing" panels are identical rectangular pieces. Using a light blue yarn from Walmart, I hand knitted the classic 2x2 rib knit pattern for the entire outfit. Since I wanted to wear a new outfit for a local cosplay event, I knitted this costume in about 4 days. The wing pattern was made by sewing white fleece (at the time I didn't know how to knit 2 colors into one piece). I used black yarn and black lace, leftover from the first cosplay, to line the edges and I did the same thing with the blue sleeve. The white armband was leftover from my first cosplay as well and that was leftover from an old tennis armband from high school that I hand sewed white lace to cover the harsh texture. The necklace I used is not Squall's original ring, however I used my boyfriend's ring which symbolizes love for that significant other. The pants were purchased at a thrift store, and conveniently has zippers in the front like the classic outfit. The wing panels are held together using loops on top for a black belt to go through for easier assembly. The boots are my cosplay boots that I also use for cosplaying as Misaki (Maid-sama!).
Personal Thoughts:
I wanted to make a better quality costume for Rinoa Heartilly (Dion Rogers), so I decided to use my knitting skills for her classic blue duster look.
