About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
For this costume I would have to say the coat and the wig were the most time consuming to make.
The wig just took forever because I had to make roughly 30 dreadlocks of various lengths and widths, each of which took around 1 hour to make. I also made all kinds of tiny microbraids and twist braids to incorporate into the wig for screen accuracy.
The coat was easy to make but took a while to assemble. Mostly due to all of the hand finishing I ended up doing on the coat. I added embroidery to the button trim to more closely match the screen used coat and I prick-stitched around ALL edges on the coat as is seen on the screen used costume. I also made swing catches/tacks to keep the pleating on the side vents from opening all the way, also done the same way as on the screen used coat. - Personal Thoughts:
- This is my most recent version of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Wig, shirt, pants, coat, and boots are all made by me.
