Cosplayer Jazqui > Costume of Megara from Hercules
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- The idea for this dress was to have it be more toga-esque and less of a fitted dress (which I feel like looks kind of plain), more like the outfits you see in the parks, but not exactly like them. So for the body of the dress, I used about four yards of a light purple linen and gathered the hell out of it along the neckline and at each of the bands. The bands are a darker purple satin, and the swirly things (whatever those are supposed to be) are made from Sculpey. The hairband is made from the same linen as the dress except in a rich orange.
- Personal Thoughts:
- MY CHILDHOOD COSPLAY DREAAAMMMMMM~ I was so stoked about completing this cosplay and I was so proud of myself I actually cried
- Styling Notes
- This is kind of a cop-out in terms of styling and I totally didn't end up doing what I expected. I took a Jeannie and a Luthien and was intending to do some stuffing/pseudo-foam core stuff, but I ended up just taking the Luthien and sticking two clips in it and putting it on the back of the Jeannie because I had a time crunch, and it looks fine!! The bangs of the base wig are not as cooperative as I'd like, the Disney bangs deflate within a few hours.
