About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Total work time: 80-100 hours.
Materials:
Kimono: silk broadcloth, acid dyes, lumiere fabric paint, dye-na-flow paint, aqua gutta
Scarf: cotton french twill, poly twill (lining), lumiere fabric paints
Sleeves: nylon spandex, metallic spandex, lumiere fabric paints
Belt: poly suiting
Hakama: poly/cotton twill
Tabi and headband: cotton sateen
Waraji: sisal rope, jute twine, and paracord
Swords: PVC pipe, 1/4" plywood, worbla, EVA foam, textured wedding decor, poly cording
Everything was either draped or flat patterned from scratch, save for the tabi which were modified from a Folkwear pattern. Kimono were both gradient dyed, the outer one dyed red first then dipped dyed into purple. The inner kimono was dyed orange, then silk painted. Seams are clean finished in the kimono.
A lot of work and love went into this costume, I'm really happy it's done. - Personal Thoughts:
- I made this for the virtual Crunchyroll Expo cosplay contest. I had the base wig and just decided to go for it.

- Styling Notes
- The bangs were cut and textured using a 1" marcel iron, then the curl slightly relaxed with a flat iron. Ponytail was lowered, teased, and textured with layers cut into it.
