About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Bodice is a faux-corset with a busk that's fully boned to support the wings without a harness. The black pleather overlay-thing is hand sewn on top with gaps in the back to slide the wings into it underneath so that none of the rigging shows. The visible white at the front is bridal satin and was basted over the support layers of the bodice to hide the boning channels.
The sleeves are made from the same bridal satin and lined with blue...poly...something or other that I had in my fabric stash. The top "wings" have a support layer with rigiline sewn in to keep its shape. All the scallops are cut from the same pleather as the bodice.
Bottoms, stockings and tail are made from wet-look spandex with details added with white 3D fabric paint. The bows are yellow cotton sateen with interfacing. The bracers are pleather lined in cotton with elastics sewn in so that they slide over my wrists. The shoes are a pair of old booties from Walmart with covers glued on. All the metal pieces and buckles were made from craft foam.
The wings are made from a curved pvc pipe each, shaped slightly and given a cotton batting support structure. The feathers were made from cardstock and glued on in layers starting from the bottom. - Personal Thoughts:
- I made this in two weeks why.
