About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
For the tunic I customized the pattern off a McCalls pattern used to make Yuki's shirt (Fruits Basket). The black edge trim was made as facings for both sides and topstitched on the folded-over innner edges. The olivey-green and black fabrics are both linens. The buttons were round black buttons I repainted with several layers of Testors paints. I used leather lacing for the fasteners, and they are fully functional.
The undershirt was made with black cotton knit, chosen because I wanted the loose drape effect. Again I customized from a pattern to get the shape needed.
The sash was made from linen, draped on a dummy to get the basic shape worked out, then finalized while I wore it. I did use a simple, small roll over hem to keep the edges from fraying.
The monocle was made cutting apart a cheap pair ordered off Ebay, because the art looks more like half of a pair of glasses then monocles or pince-nez.
The pants I bought at a thrift store, and dyed them slightly to get to the tone wanted.

- Styling Notes
- Little bit of trimming, little bit of heat styling to shape it, little bit of Got2BGlue.
