About this Costume
Construction Details:
Bodice/tabard: Made from purple satin. Top is a basic six piece bodice, lined with purple polyester lining fabric. There is an invisible zipper in the back from the bottom to open. The tabard is self lined, and attached to the bodice and enclosed with the bodice's lining.

The tabard is painted using Tulip and Jacquard fabric paints, then heat set. The design was first created on poster board to layout all the elements. Painters tape was used to set the straight lines and triangles (triforces) and stencils were used for the remaining shapes.

Skirt: Made with a cotton-lycra blend using skirt pattern from Simplicity 1550, with three pieces. The top is finished with an elastic waistband. The bottom is finished with a blind hem. The red strip is bias tape which was pinned on and then top stitched on.

Cape: Made with same cotton-lycra blend. The shaped was drafted on a dress form. The top is pleated with outward knife pleats and a box pleat in the middle. The bottom hem is finished with horsehair. The cape attaches to the bodice at the shoulder with snaps.

Belt: Made with a heavy craft interfacing and scrap teal fabric. The belt closes in the back using a belt buckle. The front piece is made with a sintra base, a PVC plumbing piece, and a wooden drawer knob. The top part of the side pieces are made from worbla, heated into rolls and heated into shape on a craft foam base. The worbla was finished with word glue to smooth the texture before painting. The "tassels" are sintra with craft foam at the top for dimension. All the belt pieces were slightly weathered using black acrylic paint.

Armor: The base of the armor pieces is EVA floor mats. The shoulders were patterned using plastic wrap and painters tape to get the shape of the shoulder. The shoulder pattern combined two pieces, and the seam was sanded and filled with caulk to smooth out. The raised edges and design were created with 2mm craft foam. The front pieces were patterned and the raised edges were done with strips of black worbla. Once the pieces were shaped, the were set with plastic dip, then primed before being spray painted. All the armor pieces were slightly weathered using black acrylic paint.

Crown: The crown started with a base of 2mm craft foam and craft wire to create the shape. The foundation was created with Model Magic. Once dried, black worbla was heated and shaped over the foundation. The round pieces are cabochons, glued into each section. Wood glue was used to smooth the texture, then spray painted gold. The front gem was painted with red acrylic.

Earrings: Earrings are made with craft foam, wire, and earring hooks. Wire was glued to the back of craft foam triangles to give and keep the upside down Triforce shape. Earrings were spray painted, then hooks were added to the top.

Wig, contact lenses, ears, petticoat, gloves, and shoes were purchased.
Personal Thoughts:
Alternative universe Zelda in purple? I could not pass this up, though it took me two years to finally get this going. I'm very happy with how this costume came out.
