About this Costume
Construction Details:
This entire costume was constructed by me, including the staff.
Bikini Top - Made from fabric and beading, pretty basic
Maroon hood - made with double lined non-stretch fabric from Joann's. I basically eyeballed the design and just winged it.
Leather belt skirt - made from cheap "pleather" material I ordered from SpandexWorld. I sewed each belt piece as a tube, then turned them right side out and sewed down lining on them. I also punched holes and mounted rivets in each belt piece. They were then sewn to the asymmetrical leather skirt, under another layer of pleather and faux fur. The whole skirt fastens with multiple button snaps, and is surprisingly comfortable.
Leggings - basic leggings that I sewed up really quick
Boots - old knee high boots that I redid with strips of the pleather belts wound around them.
Shoulder pauldron - Craft foam layered with a border of more craft foam, heat molded and painted with plasti-dip, then painted again with metallic black painted and detailed with gold rub-n-buff. The feaux feathers are hotglued on in layers.
Leather sleeve and bracer - sewed up a tube of the same pleather fabric and pulled it on underneath the shoulder pauldron. I then fastened button-snaps to the sleeve and wound another hand-made pleather belt around my forearm and wrist. The cuff is molded craft foam, painted gold and detailed with rub-n-buff and black paint. I accidentally made it too tight, so its kind of unpleasant to wear!
Staff - Core of the staff is an old Tiki Torch, which I coverd with metal wire to create "branches," then wrapped in quick-form plaster. I painted it with brown textured paint and detailed it with oil paint. The feaux feathers are tied on with strips of leather.
Flame Orb - a teardrop shaped plastic bottle that I stuffed with LED Lights and covered with hot glue. Similar to my Raiden Orb, but a bigger pain in the butt.
Wig - Cheap wig from the local costume shop that I rolled up into a bun and pinned with feathers. It's back-heavy, so I had to sew wig clips into the front wefts.
Personal Thoughts:
I have always loved Morrigan, and I was so pleased to see her in Inquisition, especially considering her past relationship with my former character. Some friends were cosplaying Dragon Age characters and I just had to get involved! Morrigan was an easy choice!
