About this Costume
Construction Details:
Everything in the Costume was constructed by me except for the boned waist-cincher.
Hat - Craft Foam braced with Popsicle sticks and covered with Burlap
Bodysuit - double lined white 4-way stretch spandex. All arm and leg straps were made from the same fabric
Blue oversash - Blue silk that I cross-sewed into the quilted look and then lined with black silk bias tape that I made myself
Black Belt and Buckle - black spandex sash that I just tied on. Beneneath is an old belt strap I repurposed to mount the Dragon buckle. The Buckle itself is cut out of craft foam and double layered, then painted and coated in rub-n-buff for shine
Armor - all armor pieces are craft foam core, covered in Worbla and shaped to my body. I primed them with woodglue, painted with silver metallic spray, rub-n-buff, and black oil paint (for weathering). I then attacked elastic straps and harness buckles to them so they would stay in place on my body. Any rivets you can see are googly eyes!
Lightning Org - I bought a cheap plastic ball from the craft store and coated it in layers upon layers of hot glue, making sure to pull it out as it cooled to create and crackled effect. The inside is stuffed with battery powered LED Lights. I literally glue it closed every time I use it, then cut it open to turn off the lights. I hold it up with invisible twine.
Eyes - White out Contacts
Personal Thoughts:
Originally, I was invited by some friends to join their Mortal Kombat Cosplay, and considered creating a Sonya. But I quickly realized that I wanted to actually cosplay my Favorite character from the series, Raiden! So I made a fem!Raiden costume with glowing lightning orb and amulet. We had a great time sowing off our group cos, and the costume was a hit with everyone who saw it!
