About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Armor - Base constructed with paper-mache, expanding foam, and clay for all the sculpted details, which I made a mold from using Ace 100% Silicone caulking and then cast in fiberglass. The gel coat is a 2:1 mix of resin and aluminum powder. The purple is iridescent purple pigment
Jewelry - 3d modeled and printed, then cast in resin
Sword - guard and pommel are 3d printed and cast, using 2:1 resin to bronze powder to balance the weight. The handle is pvc pipe. The blade is balsa wood, chip-board, and a mess of gesso
Butt-cape - fully lined, outer black velvet, inner black broadcloth, with silver piping
Tunic - fully lined, outer heavyweight purple polyester I got from LA's garment district, inner some purple broadcloth I had lying around. The collar and hip panels are that typical fabric, but topped with a lace layer to both have the color/texture difference, and blend with the typical fabric. - Personal Thoughts:
- I'm a huge musical fan, and I've always had a special love for Beryl. When she walked onstage wearing armor in the flashback scene, my first reaction was "THAT. I AM MAKING THAT."
Wig Details
- Wig Review
- THIS WIG. Oh La Reconquista, why did you have to make Beryl's hair so massive (so I can call this costume 80's metal Beryl, that's why)
