Actually paid attention to what I was doing this time.
Uhh I need to keep better track of the materials I use?
I bought everything for this on fabric.com keeping my fingers crossed shit would be the right color. The base fabric I bought was like a perfect dark Navy, I was paranoid about it being too blue. I'm pretty sure it's like... cotton? It's really thick and doesn't have a stretch to it. I used brick colored bias tape. I drafted the collar out of newspaper (this is a big deal for me I usually draw onto fabric directly and hope it works but I want to get into the habit of keeping patterns for future use) and made sure it was the right fit before cutting out the fabric pieces. I cut up my old ryuko cosplay and used that to pattern the top, because the shape and fit of my top was the ONE thing I liked about my old one... I made completely new sleeves though because I wanted them to look pretty loose, and they also weren't long enough the first time (in case I want to wear this as Satsuki the sleeves actually need to be full length). Senketsu's eye I made out of leather trim and scrapbook paper. The "leather" straps are made out of black leather look spandex, and the pouches and eye were made out of craft foam painted with satin black paint that matches the look of the spandex. The glove was made out of red spandex, craft foam, and vinyl. Shoes I bought on ebay, they were actually 3 dollars cheaper than my old ones and look way better. A lesson learned in doing better research.
tldr; the only things I recycled from my old costume are the clips from the suspender belts, and the 4 metal stud looking things on the knuckles of the gloves. - Personal Thoughts:
- This is the redone version of my regular Ryuko cosplay. I really wanted to see my improvement over the last year, and I was really unhappy with my first try.
