About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Since Sue has a really varied wardrobe, it was difficult to choose one of her outfits. Although I first thought of cosplaying a teal dress that appeared on her character page on the official website, I couldn't find enough references in the anime, so I changed it to the green one piece appearing in the dakimakura drawn by Kio Shimoku. Base dress was bought and modified (cut an opening in the front and added buttons and ruffles to the sleeves) and then dyed a darker shade of green. Also bought a one piece petticoat and sew lace to the top. Made her hair ribbons and joined two wigs to achieve her volume.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I've never been someone that chose a character to cosplay solely because she looked like me, because the most important thing for me is liking the character. And I certainly love this little gaijin otaku, or more like a walking anime quote database (something that I also do myself, although not that frequently xD). But Japan cosplay fandom puts an emphasis on taking advantage of your "plus alpha" features when cosplaying, and so I decided to pull my foreigner card even though I look nothing like Susanna and in the best place possible for a Genshiken cosplay: Summer Comiket!

- Cut, ironed and split open a beautiful Airily to sew it underneath this one and give it more volume, and then the usual styling.
- Wig Review
- This wig has been sitting in my closet for 10 years more or less XD (it was bought from a friend for a very old WCS project). It's nice but its age shows in its shiny-ness and lack of volume.
