Construction Details:

Pretty straight forward: The axe head is made of layers of 1/4" plywood stacked and sanded then coated with a single layer of fiberglass for strength. The handle is a 1" dowel with casting resin on either side for the flares. The finial on the top and bottom were cut off of a wooden candle stick and sanded to fit the look. The top and bottom separate for travel. All in all only about 8-10 hours worth of work... only because all sanding was done manually.
