Construction Details:

I used a basic shrit pattern for the top and modified it to add the proper seams and shape. Fabric used for the top is stretch poplin shirting from Joanns. I hand gathered all the ruffles for the top and the skirt as well. The skirt fabric is a combination of red and red-plaid poplin and black satin. All the pieces for the skirt are gathered at the waist and finished with a bias-tape-like waistband. I made up the pattern for the skirt from scratch to try to get that unique asymmetrical shape. The red suspenders on the top have working button holes to connect to the gold buttons on the front. The bow at the back of the top is made of black satin. The gloves I made out of red costume vinyl from JoAnns. I also made my own pattern for the gloves by tracing my hand on the fabric and adding the proper seam allowances on the perimeter of the tracing. I integrated LEDs into the belt for my own personal flair to add lights to costumes when I can. :) hehe. They emit 15mA each on 8 LEDs, using a 2 AAA power source. So using the Ohms Law equation, they will last about 8 hours. The boots I bought from an off-brand store in a local mall called Isis. I painted wooden stars for the hair clip and the suspender clip. Also added a glitter sheen to the black star on the suspender clip.

These outfits grew on me after watching the first season. I love the mix of cute mini-skirts and shorts. And all the ruffles! *_*
