About this Costume
Construction Details:
Where to begin.

Roxas required a lot of heavy modify of patterns. I made the pants into clown pants, gathered at the ankles with elastic to keep them ‘poofy’. The patterns are all top stitched over top.

The turtle neck is made from stretchy spandex blend, and the first layer over that is the tiny wasit jacket made from grey drill. The patterns are painted on, as I wanted a crisp finish, and the entire thing is lined and biased. Next layer the tiny jacket. The entire jacket is made out of b/w panels, the fabric I chose was suiting material, as I didn’t want it to crush. There’s a useless zipper up the front ( geez KH characters. . ) which is double biased ( GEEZ KH CHARACTERS ) and the collar was entirely made from scratch, as knit doesn’t come that wide. Anyway, the entire thing is biased again, and half lined.

The straps are made from pleather, and the KH logo in the middle is from foam board. The armour is made from a mix of PMP, styrene and craft foam. While the keyblade is expanding foam, paper mache and paint ( back when I had no idea about gesso . . .) the armoured shoes are also made entirely from craft foam.
Personal Thoughts:
This costume was a lot of firsts, and a lot of lessons learnt the hard way. A costume I probably shouldn’t have tackled with less than a year of sewing under my belt- but you gotta learn somehow!!

Entered competition in 2012, at Auckland Armageddon in New Zealand, winning best group novice
