About this Costume
Construction Details:
First of all, I did not make the claws, as I didn't have the time to. So my talented friend Sean Shaw made them for me so that I could cut time and costs. So I'm entirely grateful for him! As for everything else, I make everything on my own.

This project took about a month, with me working on and off. I drafted a pattern for the blue base top, basing it off a previous pattern I used from my Hannah dress. From there, I used the same pattern for the top portion of the pink dress. The pink fabric is some sort of polyester fabric I found in the LA fashion district. Then I drafted a pattern for the pink skirt portion and sewn it together to the top. The edges of the pink dress were encased in yellow double folded bias tape. The collar gave me hell, but I was able to draft a pattern and used heavy fusible interfacing in order to get it to stand. Then I hand sewed some hooks and eyes into the collar to close it, so that I would be able to easily get my head in and out of the dress through the open collar and the boob hole but still be able to close it fully around my neck. After this, I sewn the huge sleeves, using some yellow polyester fabric to make a giant cuff and finished off the edges. What gave me the most trouble was the pants, it seems silly, but I never made puffy pants before. But eventually, I managed to get my butt into it. The blue top and the pants are separate pieces, though I should have sewn it together. The hat was made extremely last minute, I had finished it literally the day of the con. I purchased a round clown hat in a Halloween store, I cut off the brim and wrapped it with pink polyester fabric, hot gluing everything down. Then I took some thick eva foam and created the brim, hot gluing the fabric around. Then a styrofoam ball was glued to the top of the hat to finish it. As for my wig, I ordered two wigs off of Ebay and cut into one, sewing it to the other to make the wig super thick. I didn't consider how big my head would be with this super thick wig, but the hat ended up being too small, WHOOPS. So it kept falling off my head! Oops! But after all of this, I still had body paint to put on. I originally used Mehron Paradise in Light Blue, but I ran out of it on the first day since I accidentally bought the smallest size (WHOOPS). So for the rest of Anime Expo and for Comic Con, I used Mehron Starblend in Blue.
Personal Thoughts:
Ahh! My very first cosplay with body paint. I've learned a lot from making this cosplay and I'm definitely ready to continue improving this cosplay till it's absolutely perfect! I really enjoyed wearing this cosplay at Anime Expo 2013 along with my friends. It was my first big project!
