About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Jacket: I patterned the jacket myself, overall one of the most straightforward parts of the costume. I REALLY wanted to use pleather/vinyl for the jacket, but long-story short, the fabric I had did not work out. It was a great color but could not withstand... well, anything. It bubbled at every little crease and fold. Very disappointing. So, I went to the fabric store to quickly find an alternative. I ended up using a duck cloth, which I thought wouldn't work well due to how stiff it is, but it was fine, actually. Like a heavy denim, and pretty appropriate for a military jacket. One day, I may decide to remake in vinyl, but my feelings now are that I won't. I'm pretty happy with this one. The patches were bought as a custom order from Shikarius.
Belt/Straps: The straps are long tubes of brown stretch vinyl with elastic inside. They were then arranged and hand-sewn together.
Accessories: the grey part of the upper-body harness and the other belt pouches/holders were made by heat-n-bonding two layers of vinyl together.
Boots: The boots I bought were slouch boots and needed altering (I have big feet so a lot of boots don't come in my size!!) I had to detach the lining and extend it to get rid of the slouchiness. I also added interfacing inside to stiffen the boots up a bit.
Other: I hastily made Eren's shirt. I cut and styled the wig. - Personal Thoughts:
- After hearing the name "Attack on Titan" a lot via the internet and friends, I finally got the nudge to check it out when the anime was at about 13 episodes. I spent a few days having my mind blown (though I did know some spoilers) and my heart trampled on as I caught up. The rest is history. This series is insane.
What can I say, I love Eren. I love angsty, angry boys. Though despite his rage for Titans, he has a good heart and cares a lot for other people. He often blames himself for his comrades' deaths. He's a bit naive too and blindly rushes into things.
Also, his name is EXTREMELY similar to mine, so cosplaying him is only natural, hahah.
