About this Costume

This costume was a pain in the butt. I bought the main leaf corset from another cosplayer (i forgot her name, sorry!) but I ended up buying more leaves, replacing them, painting them 4 times with 3 different paints, and then adding glitter. This corset was originally a size Medium, I think, so I had to sew it so it could be a size XS but having a tie in the back helped a lot. The thread tying the back of it was bought at a craft store. I also had to sew the corset together in the front because the busk had been torn out by the original owner.
I bought the original wig cheap, added something to keep the cone-like shape of her hair. I added extentions for length and highlights for better accuracy of the movie.
The glovelets are made from a non-stretch material (which sucks to work with!). Leaves that went through the same process of the bodice were glued onto the outside of the gloves. Since the material is non stretch they needed to be held up with double sided tape. Also, this was actually the hardest piece of the costume to make because of that non-stretch factor.
The tights were bought online and I added the leaf detailing with a type of puffy paint. The leaf detailing was made to be accurate to the movie but there are very few good quality reference photos.
The shoes were bought from a Goodwill and then customized with fabric to keep the solid green color.
The cloak was handmade and mixed with a cloak fabric that was given to me by the original owner of the corset. I partially sewed the two fabrics together since Uma Thurman's Ivy has quite a complex looking cloak.
The eyebrows leaflets were made of craft foam and covered in a glittery kind of nail ploish. They are held on my face with Spirit Gum.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This costume was a childhood dream of mine.
