Personal Thoughts:

Damn this dress. It was so hard. Made the bottom dress first as a form fitting strapless dress out of this gorgeous pink brocade I found in Joanns. The whole dress took about 6 days to complete. Gloves were silver gloves I bought in LA fashion district, and I made glove tops out of matching color silver pleather from Joanns and gold pleather. The tight tops are also made of strips of black and silver pleather glued on, and close with velcro. The wig is my Chun-Li wig with different fabric covers, and craft foam petals around the bases.

I meant to make this costume for Fanime 2012 for the Shunya Yamashita group but had to drop since my Chun Li and Fuu costumes took me more time than I thought. Better that I pushed it off since it's made pretty sturdy and I'm working on the sword with my boyfriend. :D

The top part was patterned out after about 4 hours of on and off frustration, patterning, measuring, pinning, and trying on of mockups. There is an invisible zipper running the entire length of the dress in the back, which was also a pain to install, but it cinches me in tight into the dress. This dress definitely requires someone else's help to pull it over my broad shoulders, but when it's on, it's on tight and securely. I opted to lengthen the dress a little more for more modesty and hopefully didn't mess up the whole overall look. My butt is there though :P

The sword is made of two layers of 3/4 inch pink insulation foam bought from Home Depot, cut out after tracing with a dry erase marker onto the plastic sheeting on the foam, cut with a handsaw, glued together with Loctite spray glue, and a slot for the wooden dowel handle was cut into the foam. The dowel is glued in with Loctite foam caulking glue. This is my first big giant prop, and thanks so much to HybridTwist, my wonderful boyfriend for helping me so much on this!
