About this Costume
Construction Details:
Down to business, the construction. I found a gorgeous red velour on sale and paid about $6 for the entire cut for the outfit. I bought white fleece for the trim since that is what was used in the movie, not a fur trim. The fleece was another bargain. I got it all for $6 as well and it is all doubled up for a more fluffy look.

The candy cane trim piping started off as a candy cane cord. I bought some piping tape and zig zagged all 6 yards onto the tape to incase in the seams. The top is lined (and seam accurate to Mary's in the movie) The pants are just capris stretch pants with a flare at the bottom that I made.

The belt I had bought back in the summer for another project but later found a better belt. So I had this red leather belt laying around and finally found a good use for it. I bought the gold buckle at Tandy Leather for about $4. The black boots I had already (I use them for several costumes).

That Santa hat was the easiest part. Two triangles sewn up with the fleece trim and a pom pom on the end.

The wig I used was a New Look Linda in 24B/613. I had this wig on hand already and felt it would be perfect for Mary's platinum stylish do.

The toy bag was a last second creation made for the photos. It's just a cut of red cotton wrapped around a bag of fiberfill and a red ribbon at the top. It eventually fell apart at the end of the shoot, but it was never meant to last lol.

I made this costume as kind of a spur of the moment type thing and I am quite happy with how it turned out!
The entire outfit took about a day and half to throw together.

I really wanted photo's of this to upload before the holidays but we havn't been getting snow till January. Needless to say, it snowed on December 26th...T_T. We had an ample snowfall the week between Christmas and New years so we took the photo opportunity a day after New Years.

Personal Thoughts:
I loved this ABC holiday movie when it first aired. Jenny McCarthy was wonderful as Santa's business savvy daughter who has to run Christmas since Santa suffers a heart attack and has to take that year off.
One thing that drew me to this movie was Mary's cute and femme version of Santa's suit for her job to deliver the toys on Christmas eve.

Wig Review
New Look wigs never fail. They always look natural and are soft to the touch.
