I used men's Burda patterns for the shorts and the jacket, so that way I could get the right, boyish silhouette. The trickiest part of the jacket was making the padded collar - I debated between just stuffing it and putting a rolled hood in it (I don't think Renton actually ever unzips the collar, but I -assume- that's what's inside of there: a hood.) In the end, I thought a hood would be a fun Kero-chan Check - it required some careful detail work, but I was really pleased with how it came out.
I also had a lot of thoughts about the shoes and in the end, decided to order a custom pair of Converse. They're not 100% accurate, but I love supporting Converse and I think they complement the outfit nicely. :)
Also, all the 12,000 pockets on this costume are completely functional. It makes me wonder why he has a fanny-pack.
I did not make the boards - Ringo and Makoto made them for their first round of Eureka costumes. - Personal Thoughts:
- I watched a few episodes of Eureka 7 and really enjoyed it - it spoke to my very deep Evangelion fangirl on a number of levels. :) As often happens, I was drawn to the young, plucky hero with the color-blocked outfit - since Makoto was making a new Eureka outfit, I used the opportunity to jump into the group.
These outfits were so much fun to wear! :)
