About this Costume
Construction Details:
Dress: Bodice was adapted from Simplicity 4070. I attached it to a circle skirt that I drafted with help from a tutorial by taeliac on Deviantart. I dyed the fabric, which was originally white, with a combination of purple, petal pink, and taupe Rit liquid dyes. This was a bit tricky because the shade is not quite pink, but also not quite purple. I changed the ribbon part of the bodice a bit from the original design so that it's interweaved into the fabric, not just hanging from loops on top of the fabric.

Top: From my closet. I decided not to sew one that looks more like what Ahim actually wears, partly because I had a really hard time telling from reference pictures, and partly because I got lazy. Instead, I chose a top that's similar to Ahim's style.

Jacket: Modified Simplicity 3628 pattern. I plan to redo the collar so it looks more like in the show. This has two layers of fleece - pink for the outside, white for the inside. I learned the hard way that sewing through 4 layers of fleece does not work super well on a sewing machine... On the bright side, it's perfect for colder weather.

Boots: Bought online from Kmart.

Hair: Used my own hair but added a clip-on bang from Doctored Locks since I normally don't have bangs. The shade is slightly off from my natural hair color, but it's not as noticeable from far away.
Personal Thoughts:
Gokai Change! GOOOOOOOOKAIGER!

From episode 1, I've always wanted to cosplay from Gokaiger. I debated between Luka and Ahim and eventually chose Ahim because we're both super polite and may appear weak but have a lot of inner strength. Actually, my choice kind of surprised me since I'm more of a tomboy than a girly girl, but personality-wise, I relate more to Ahim than Luka. I decided to do the pinkish-purplish dress since most people tend to do the white one, and I wanted a bit more of a challenge.
