About this Costume

The outfit itself is pretty simple, a big blue circle skirt, brown top, and yellow sash. The hard parts were making and attaching the ruffles, as well as the flags and the brown pieces. Agent Bishie helped with planning out the flags. Anything that was painted or utilized an iron-on design was his work. He also designed the cage / belt and corresponding head and neck pieces.
I made a petticoat just for this skirt, it's about 12 yards of tulle, plus whatever was in my leftovers bin. Pooof!
There are 23 feet of ruffles on the skirt, times two colors, so about 46 feet total (plus the shirt, and the sleeves!) I made them all using the gathering foot on my sewing machine and some symphony classic fabric from Joann's. I really hate making narrow hems, so I mostly bought the material and used the selvedge edge.
The flags were tacked down with glue, and I whipped a few stitches around the edges.
All of the gold studs / buttons are actually scrapbooking brads. - Personal Thoughts:
- This costume is based on an Original Design by Twilite Sea, who illustrated concept art for a Walt Disney World Parade celebrating its 40th anniversary. EPCOT is my favorite park, with World Showcase as the favorite section. Plus, the illustration featured a girl with curly reddish hair...hmm...done!
