About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Beak: Made out of wonderflex, and layered with glue to smooth the wonderflex texture.
The Tunic: Made with various cotton fabrics, same with the Tabbard. The sleeve and bottom were biased with some not so sewing friendly ribbon. But I got it to work :-)
The Tabbard: Designs were hand drawn mixed color fabric paint to achieve the right amount of shine but without so much glare.
The Socks: Her feet aren't very duck or bird like, which is a little odd, but good. I made these socks out of one way stretch polyester. My first pair had the lines painted on to look like the skin birds have on their feet, but I threw those out. I ignorantly thought I wouldn't be able to salvage them... Now I know I was wrong :-(
Harp: Carved out of wood. Layered with acrylic paints. The strings are made out of real string! As in 100% polyester string. I could have gone all out and have it actually make some sounds with real guitar or violin strings, but never got around to it. Maybe I'll revisit Medli and pimp up the harp.
