About this Costume
Construction Details:
I was invited to cosplay Sayaka for my group of friends doing a Madoka group for AWA 2011, and so I sat down and watched the series, loved it, and started making the costume back in July 2011 while my friend worked on her Mami. This costume was fun but at the same time a challenge, since I was bent on making her chest armor look the way it does in the drawings (like armor, and not like cloth). And I didn't know how I could attach the white drapy part under the chest armor while still being able to wear it. The diagonal pleated skirt was a challenge too, since I couldn't figure out the best way to put the white lining on the edge while making the pleats nice and clean. It was also my first time making a cape (lol) and so I just kind of made something up for that XDDD The arm warmers are made of navy blue dancewear; the cape is made of some kind of satin (sorry, I'm really bad with fabric names); the chest piece is a strapless bra covered with satin, and the white part of the top and the skirt are both made out of the same type of semi-shiny fabric (again, I can't remember the fabric name -_-). I bought the white thigh-highs online and attached the blue lining, and the boots from Target and didn't modify them since I wanted to wear them outside of cosplay :P. Overall, it was a costume that looked relatively easy and fun to make, but it ended up giving me a lot of headaches lol. Still, it was really fun being Sayaka with my group, and we got a lot of neat pictures so I'm happy with the way it turned out!!
