About this Costume
Construction Details:
The black dress is made from some thick synthetic fabric. I now wish I had used a fabric that breathed! On the plus side, no wrinkles. It's a basic dress with darts, long sleeves, and a partially circular skirt that is finished with a white eyelet lace to imitate the jagged trim. The pink fabric for the bows, cuffs, bloomers, and tie is all quilting cotton. The bottom of the sleeves end in a white handgathered ruffle. The white "Pilgrim collar" is actually a separate piece that goes over the dress and closes under the tie. The pink bloomers were made from a simple pattern and use elastic casings. The blue wig was recycled - it's one I had sitting around. The staff was largely made from recycled materials. The staves in the game weren't very pretty so I decided to just have fun making my own. A dowel rod makes the base, ribbon, paperclay, and blue and white rhinestones make the details. The top part is actually a cut up soda bottle with paperclay sculpted over it. Inside that is a clear sphere I found stuffed with a bunch of pretty blue ribbons, confetti, and glitter. The ears are actually made from Paperclay and attached to a headband, made to cover my real ears. The headdress was made with a rectangle of black fabric and long pieces of white fabric pleated and sewn onto either end. Then the bows were made and tacked on the sides and a ribbon attached to tie under my chin. White tights and pink Mary Jane shoes complete the outfit. I couldn't walk in those heels, but they sure are cute!
