Construction Details:

This was a dream costume of mine since I first discovered the amazing art of Shunya Yamashita. It is also my third costume based off his art. Something about the intricate design on this character's armor really intrigued me. Somehow I managed to pull this off in 2 weeks. I was really broke, so I was forced to work with materials that I already had so despite my uncertainty I decided to go ahead and do this in craft foam. Just staring at the craft foam I felt like this was going to be a complete failure and waste of time however I was determined to give it the appearance of leather the best I could. And somehow I succeeded because so many people asked me if it was leather. To give the foam some durability I coated it in layers and layers of polyurethane which I find is a really effective method. It all held together very well because after a rough weekend at the con it is still in great shape. I look forward to wearing it again!
