About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This was a last minute costume. I went to ColossalCon and found out my friends Miri and Bonk were doing L4D2. I had only brought one costume for the weekend so I thought, why not make an infected to go with them.
Then I got it into my head that I could make one of the types of infected. I didn't even know how much latex or makeup I could get together from my friends at the con, and I was already buying clearance clothing at Wal-Mart and fake nails for teeth.
I got the stuff I didn't have for about 5$ at Wal-Mart. The rest of it was just piecing together the small amount of make-up Bonk had in her kit. I tried REALLY HARD not to waste or over use anything she had. I used tissue paper from the hotel room and latex from Bonk's kit to make a fake jaw just below my nose and on my chin and jawbone. After playing with the tissue and applying some layers of latex, I did the same to her neck, except I put cotton balls under the tissue to give that "Spit Sack" effect that some of the art has. I then ripped the latex away from the skin around my mouth, to make it look more like a mouth. I then painted my mouth and the "inside" of the Spitter's mouth black. I used a bruise wheel to color the latex on the outside and Powder Cake Makeup in Grey for the blotchy skin. I used a thick "Scab Blood" from BenNye for the neck and blood. Stuck in some fake nails and some "Gakk" for the spit and BAM. Spitter.
And this is what I got. Not bad. I do enjoy improve costumes (*Cough*Cough*Murdoc*) - Personal Thoughts:
- It'd be fun to make a real prosthetic of this.
