About this Costume
- Construction Details:

My love of 80s won out again and I finally made Rainbow Brite! The whole costume is made from spandex/ swimsuit knits. The main body is a heavier weight and the sleeves are lightweight, lined with poly quilt batting. The colour belt is wide elastic inside a spandex sleeve. The buckle and the shoulder pieces are both craft foam sheets (the shoulders are sewn into spandex pockets. I also my a Twink costume for my daughter who was 10 months old at the time. She got a LOT more attention than I did. Her costume is mad of silky plush fabric, spandex strips, and a dismantled shamrock headband(I broke the headband and sewed just the center portion with the springs into the hood) with 5mm craft foam stars twisted onto the ends of the springs.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- The wig was my first real updo. I'd done pigtails before, but the wig already had them pulled up, so that doesn't count. I had to add wefts to this one around the back and side hairline. Sadly, the extensions weren't a perfect match to the wig, so it's pretty obvious where I added them. Still, I'm pretty happy with it for my first attempt. The biggest issue was getting it to stay on my head. It weighed half of what my Sailor Moon wig did, but with the off-center ponytail, it really pulled on one side pretty bad, even with a lot of pins.
