About this Costume
Construction Details:
5 months of work went into this costume from start to finish. Hair is my own, cut by Michael at Salon Circa using Kraehe's artbook page for reference...the cowlick is a coque feather. Tutu skirt is a russian style pleated layered skirt with a hoop, all hand tacked. Plate is decorated with a hand gathered black skirt/ruffle (same material as bodice) which was hand sewn to the skirt, and hand trimmed black turkey feathers, glued and hand tacked. The bodice is based onto a nude leotard, and made of black stretch dance/swimwear material. A basic pattern was cut out of paper then of the fabric to test how it would stretch until arriving at just the right shape. Edges are piped in black and handsewn to the leotard then finally to the skirt. On my legs are black sheer pantyhose, and on my feet are a pair of my Freed Classics (4xxx) painted black.
