Okay--so I started this cosplay on a whim and it really turned into a labour of love~ The pieces of the entire cosplay are as follows: the jacket, the shirt, the tie, the pants, the boots, and the wig. In a couple shots I am wearing leather gloves which do deviate from canon, I know--this was only due to the fact it was -12 degrees and snowing; I do try to stay true to canon as possible. The jacket was definitely the hardest part as I made it by hand--literally. I hand sewed the entire thing as I really wanted to finish it but did not have a sewing machine at my disposal. So hand stitching it was. The material was a stretch dress material such as the one used for a lot of blazers. What I did then was sew a basic blazer and then added pockets and epaulettes--also hand sewn and fully functional. The cuffs are the only thing I took a short cut on--they are just strips of material sewn to the sleeve to imitate an actual cuff. The button were last and I really fought with what kind of button to use and accuracy is one of my main objectives when I am sewing my own cosplays. I finally decided on a simple, flat gold button which came in both small and medium size as I wanted the buttoning the jacket to be as simplistic as possible. The shirt is just a white dress shirt buttoned all the way up to my neck. I managed to get the one I am wearing in these shots from my friend who out grew her private school dress shirt and gave it to me. As for the tie--in order to make it match my uniform i simply covered an already constructed tie with the same material I used for the jacket. Again, it was sewn by hand. As in any sewing project, I happened have a bit of dumb luck when it came to the pants. The pants were actually bought prior to anything--even buying the material for the jacket and it miraculously matched. The material is different but the colour is almost spot on--of much to my relief when I realized I did not have to sew pants as well as a jacket. The boots were previously owned--a gift from my parents two years ago. They are simple, brown, knee-high Rockports with a low "almost-an-inch" heel--yes, I have actually measured this~ As for the wig my friend ordered that online for me--and I am ever so grateful. In all, started on what was originally a whim, this cosplay quickly turned into a project taking almost a month to construct and complete. But it my favourite by far and I am very happy with the way it turned out.
