About this Costume
Construction Details:
Alfred was among the countries in Hetalia I wanted to attempt to do since I seen other cosplayers from NDK 09 and Wasabi 2010 do the cosplays and I was really intrigued by their cosplays that I said one day I wanna do a America cosplay since I do consider myself patriotic and I seen a really good one at NDK. The shirt, tie, and dress shoes I already owned from previous cosplays while pants I bought at a thrift store which was one part of the journey to complete America. Next up was the bomber jacket which was a pain to find til a simple trip to the flea market and I find this Bomber Jacket that looked just like America's at the Army surplus area of the place. It was a 25 dollar purchase next to a black one I got previously. The patches I bought online from Kingdom Arts which had these really accurate patches that nowadays many America's are using for their Jackets since Army surplus stores don't carry these kinds of patches. Wig was the biggest pain of all. Long story short I simply cannot do wigs myself since I Fubared on one previous cosplay in 09. Alfred was at first a long beach blonde wig a friend made and dyed for me to be a sandy blonde. The wig was cut, styled and all that to be as close to him as possible. But after NDK 2010 it has since now died, wig got shagged, and the nantucket got limp. However, thanks to a wig commissioner I know (Wigs by Mizu) I got a better America complete with a better Nantucket, and better styled. I recommend any cosplayer to go to her for good wigs that will last. The blouse was modeled after services blouses in World War II. The blouse was also a very big challenge and had a friend make that. End result it looked ok with the jacket on, but with it off it looked kinda like a nightgown and needed some work. Overall, America was a bit of a challenge to do, but it was so fun and worth doing.
